Rebuild Stronger 2020

We are supporting homeowners and developers rebuilding after the recent California wildfires. For the first 100 applications submitted for homes that were damaged or destroyed in the recent Kincade, Camp, Woolsey, Getty or Tick wildfires, Build It Green is waiving the GreenPoint Rated application fee. Green homes are more resilient and fire-wise, have lower maintenance and operating costs, and are healthier for occupants. Contact a GreenPoint Rater or learn more on how to apply here.

Carbon Positive Toolkit

This month we attended Carbon Positive '20. We learned a ton and met amazing people contributing to de-carbonizing our built environment. There are several resources you can start using today to help guide you towards carbon positive design.  From better understanding the environmental product declaration (EPD) of your materials to visually articulating how material selection of your landscape design impact the embodied carbon offset timeline. We've made a list of our top three tools.

2019 Year In Review

Feb. 18, 2020

2019 was a BIG year for Build It Green. Our network of GreenPoint Raters and GreenPoint Rated homes continued to grow. We also launched a pilot program to train real estate professionals to be GreenPoint Rated advocates for single-family homes. And after successfully managing utility-funded energy efficiency programs throughout Northern California, toward the end of last year we finalized the sale of that business to Franklin Energy, a Wisconsin-based provider of energy efficiency and grid optimization services. The sale positions BIG to provide more robust support in 2020 for GreenPoint Rated while developing new initiatives to help the residential building industry address decarbonization and other increasingly urgent climate-crisis challenges.

Check out our BIG Picture Report for a recap of our 2019 impacts.
