Hidden Cost, Vital Opportunity: Unlocking Housing Through Equitable Infrastructure
At Build It Green, along with PRE Collective, had an incredible time hosting the “Hidden Cost, Vital Opportunity: Unlocking Housing Through Equitable Infrastructure” event.
Our speakers delved into the complex history and current challenges of infill development in California, sharing impactful stories and innovative solutions. From a housing project in Berkeley that used SB 35 to Sacramento’s proactive infrastructure planning, the event underscored the importance of collaboration, innovation, and systemic change.
Q&A with Community Experts on Co-ops
Build It Green (BIG) is working with local groups and co-op initiative members to scale equitable housing cooperatives across California. Since co-op development requires a different approach to securing resources, BIG hosted a learning session with co-op experts from community organizations to share their insights. As we work to normalize co-ops, sharing information and connecting our network to experts remains a key focus of BIG’s efforts. For more information or to join the initiative, contact Jenny Low at [email protected]. Speakers included Helen Leung and Miguel Ramos of LA Más, and Óscar Quiroz-Medrano of SOMOS Mayfair.
