Topic:  Smaller Green Homes for the 21st Century

Description:
What is the definition of a “small home”? Interior designer, Jean Cary and builder, Paul Melish will address this and other issues, including practical ideas for flexible use of space, why the demographics of the peninsula favor smaller homes, and how to convince homeowners to incorporate green products in their remodel.

Jean Cary, Jean Cary Interiors 
Jean Cary is an interior designer who has owned Jean Cary Interiors on the Peninsula for 28 years. She is the winner of numerous design awards and the author of a monthly column in the Redwood Shores Magazine. Her design practice provides her clients innovative solutions for decorating dilemmas whether they are updating their homes for comfortable living or staging their homes for resale. Her emphasis on universal design shows clients how accessible design products and concepts for design changes can be stylish and actually enhance the value of the home. There are many creative solutions for accessibility that do not look like the home is made to accommodate someone with a disability. Universal design assures that the home is a comfortable environment for people of all ages and all abilities.


Paul Melish, Paul Melish Builder 
Paul Melish is a builder with over 18 years in the construction industry.  His company specializes in modular, panelized, and traditional construction techniques.  His goal is to create small, efficient homes that are Net-Zero.
