Description: Join us for an engaging workshop on the tradeoffs and challenges faced when selecting green materials for a home. There are many green options available to contractors and homeowners designing or remodeling, and just as many tough decisions to make throughout the process. Kurt Hurley will share his experience in achieving a ultra low energy home: the unexpected choices he faced, the tradeoffs associated with those choices, and the products selections he made to create his ideal space. Lydia Corser brings expertise in green materials and client communication, and will offer information about products she works with at Greenspace, and advice on how to work with your clients to define priorities they have for their projects. Food is provided.

Cancellation Policy:  No refunds will be given for cancellations or no-shows due to our limited venue capacity. Registered attendees can transfer their credit to another colleague (i.e. go in their place) for the same Workshop - not for another Workshop.

Speaker Information:

   Kurt Hurley
Kurt earned his B.S. in Physics from the University of California Santa Cruz and began working in applied optics and precision instrumentation. Kurt transitioned into the environmental non-profit sector in the areas of energy efficiency, urban water use, and resource management. He recently served as project manager for his own residential Passive House retrofit in Santa Cruz completed in early 2013. He has recently refocused his efforts in the private sector by both mentoring and investing in clean-tech ventures serving markets in smart grid, renewable energy generation, energy storage, and green building materials.

   Lydia Corser
Lydia has been utilizing her eye for green interior design since 1995. She played a major role in launching Greenspace - a green remodeling store in Santa Cruz, and took on ownership of the store in 2007. Six years later, and she still mixes paint as happily as she designs green kitchens. Lydia Corser received her Bachelor's of Science degree in Wildlife Biology in 1986, and an Advanced Certificate and Associate's Degree in Science in Interior Design from West Valley College in 1998.
