Since 1988 Eco-Home has offered a demonstration home, library and bookstore, workshops, newsletter, annual green home tours.

As part of the class Thermal Aspects of Building Design at UC Berkeley, a group of five undergraduate and graduate students performed a field evaluation of this passive solar residence--the Siegel House--located in the Village Homes subdivision at Davis, California.

The chief strategy for saving energy in this home was to keep the building cool during the long, hot summers without mechanical cooling. This was accomplished by employing natural ventilation, thermal mass, and superior insulation.
