Save the World in 20 Slides

PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public.  Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat,” it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It's a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.

We love this idea and will be hosting our version of PechaKucha at the following regional Guild meetings:
  • South Bay - July meeting
  • North Bay- November meeting

Regional Deadlines and Other Info:

South Bay
North Bay
  • September 12:  Synopsis due - submit by e-mail to: Terry Peck - tlpeck@jps.net
  • September 26:  Response from committee
  • October 31:  Presentations due
  • November 14:  Event night - Register to attend

Interested in Presenting?

Our Theme:
Anything pertaining to Green, Sustainable, and Holistic living!  Inspire us, educate us, tell us a story.

Rules:
Presentation: Each person shows 20 images. You have 20 seconds to show each image. You have no control over this. This results in a total presentation time of 6 minutes 40 seconds on a stage before the next presenter is up.

Formats: 20 images in JPEG format (size: 1024 x 768 px, landscape orientation). Keep your images under 450 KB each (already compressed) or 20 slides in PowerPoint (PPT) format.

Content: As long as it’s about green living, we want to hear it, but please keep it non-commercial.

Want to Play?
Submit a topic synopsis for review (see below for each region’s deadlines and contact info).  Everyone is welcome, but Build It Green Members get first priority.

If your topic is approved, we’ll give you a deadline to submit your Images/PPT slides (~2weeks in advance of that month’s Guild meeting).
