Build It Green is pleased to announce two important milestones in forging closer ties with the California Building Performance Contractors Association (CBPCA). Build It Green and CBPCA share a common interest in encouraging widespread home improvements to a higher level of sustainability standards, including improved home energy performance. Toward that end, Build It Green’s Director of Operations, Bruce Mast, accepted an appointment to the CBPCA Board of Directors in August. Then in November, Build It Green and CBPCA executed a Memorandum of Understanding to pursue collaborative opportunities to make the CBPCA and GreenPoint Rated Existing Home programs complementary and mutually reinforcing. Key MOU terms include agreements on collaborative marketing and cross-training opportunities.

Build It Green is one of a handful of recipients of the prestigious Flex Your Power Award in the Media and Education category, demonstrating “educational efforts that have positively impacted energy efficiency activities” through its GreenPoint Rated program. Award winners over the last two years have saved more than $172 million, one billion kilowatt hours of electricity, and greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to removing more than 80,000 cars from the road.
