Course Description: GreenPoint Rater - Existing Home Training

Differentiate yourself in today's green building marketplace!

Current GreenPoint Raters can attend this 2-day course to become a Certified GreenPoint Rater for existing and remodeled homes. This course builds on the GreenPoint Rater - New Home (GPR-NH) Training.

***NOTE: YOU MUST MEET THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO ATTEND THIS TRAINING***

This course uses visual examples of actual construction sites, demonstrating how to verify each of the GreenPoint Rated - Existing Home measures. You will participate in interactive exercises and case studies to help you learn the process. Energy software will be demonstrated, and you will learn step-by-step processes to be an effective GreenPoint Rater - Existing Home (GPR - EH).
To become a GreenPoint Rater - EH, you must:

  1. Meet eligibility requirements
  2. Take course and pass exam

  • Basic HERS knowledge, including exterior envelope, duct testing, insulation type and density, air flow, EER values, etc.

Certifying Agency

Build It Green is the certification body for the GreenPoint Rater Training and is responsible for class logistics, development of training content, management of instructors, marketing, examinations, issuing certificates, maintenance of the GreenPoint Raters Directory, quality control of Certified Raters, and communication to Certified Raters regarding recertification requirements.

Instructor

Marc Richmond, President of Practica Consulting, is a nationally recognized green building educator with more than 15 years experience in the construction industry green building field. He spent seven years as part of the Austin Energy Green Building Program, where he helped design and manages one of the first rating programs in the country. Marc has worked extensively in Texas, California, Colorado and Pennsylvania as green building consultant, construction supervisor, and energy services company project manager. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Moravian College in Pennsylvania, and his Master of Business Administration and his Master of Energy & Environmental Policy from Claremont Graduate School in Los Angeles.
