Bill Worthen is the founding principal at Urban Fabrick, Inc. and a nationally recognized sustainability and collaborative design thought leader. Over his twenty-year career Bill has balanced policy development with professional and public advocacy, practice experience, industry research and peer-to-peer education. Bill is a GreenPoint Rater for new single and multi-family homes based in San Francisco, CA. .

Bill has served as the sustainability consultant on several high-visibility projects since he founded Urban Fabrick, Inc. and as Vice-President of Simon & Associates, Inc., Green Building Consultants.  Bill served as a member of San Francisco’s Green Building Task Force resulting in the city’s pioneering Green Building Ordinance, winner of the first World Green Building Council Government Leadership Award in 2011 and current member of the San Francisco Eco-District Formation Task Force. Bill has also represented his profession, serving as the AIA National Director and Resource Architect for Sustainability from 2010 to 2012, spearheading several cross-industry collaborative sustainability initiatives – most notably overseeing the development of the AIA Energy Modeling Practice Guide. 
Bill’s current work includes LEED consulting on outpatient facilities for the Veterans Association and the LEED certification of the Sales Force Tower, 181 Fremont, Block 9, 706 Mission and 644 Broadway.  Bill served as a member of United States Green Building Counsel’s LEED Implementation Committee and the Integrative Process Task Group that developed LEED v4. Bill is also a member of the Greenbuild Expo 2014 Program Working Group. Bill recently wrote, The Future of Designing (with) Water published in the January 2014 issue of ARCHITECT Magazine covering the challenges and opportunities for designing and operating onsite commercial water re-use systems and the water-energy nexus.  Bill also peer reviews climate positive development projects around the world on the C40 Cities Roadmap Review Committee at the Clinton Foundation.
