Topic: 2008 Title 24 Energy Code Update & HERS Phase II
Description: This presentation will cover the key items included in the 2008 Update to the Title 24 Energy Standards, effective January 1, 2010. In particular, this lecture and discussion will focus on the residential sector (single- and multi-family dwellings) and will cover building envelope, HVAC, water heating, and lighting. Lastly this presentation will discuss some of the overarching impacts that this code change may have for projects wishing to exceed the new code for energy or green program purposes.
In addition, we will cover the new HERS Phase II regulations: 1) who the players are (Inspector, Analysis, Verifier, HERS Rater & Home Performance Contractor) and what their roles are; 2) the difference between an Audit, a HERS Rating and diagnostic testing; 3) what a HERS Rating includes. California’s Net Zero Energy goal and the HERS Index. This presentation will also cover: 1) how HERS Phase II will fit into Utility Rebate Programs, Energy Efficient Mortgages, property tax financing, Deep Energy Retrofits & GreenPoint Rating; 2) the importance of using an independent 3rd Party HERS Rater to identify opportunities for your clients on projects, and to Verify the quality of installations and for code compliance; 3) The importance of a minimum of 1 year of actual utility bills.
Key questions which will be answered in this training: How will the new code and HERS PH II verification requirements impact:
- Your work?
- Your ability to participate in beyond code compliance programs such as utility programs, GreenPoint Rated and ENERGY STAR?
- Your ability to leverage funding sources such as tax credits, energy efficient mortgages, and property tax financing?
