Event Description

Topic: What’s New in the 2008 Title 24 Energy Code

Description: This presentation will cover the key items included in the 2008 Update to the Title 24 Energy Standards, effective January 1, 2010. In particular, this lecture and discussion will focus on the residential sector (single- and multi-family dwellings) and will cover building envelope, HVAC, water heating, and lighting. Lastly this presentation will discuss some of the overarching impacts that this code change may have for projects wishing to exceed the new code for energy or green program purposes.

Biography

Linda Murphy, Heschong Mahone Group, Inc

Ms. Murphy is a Project Manager at the Heschong Mahone Group, Inc. and supervises Title 24 compliance analysis for HMG’s residential and multifamily projects.

As Plan Review Manager at HMG, Ms Murphy is currently working on PG&E California Multifamily New Homes in Northern California. For this program, Linda reviews plans, energy files, and coordinates efforts between developer, energy consultant, and HERS Rater. Prior to HMG, Ms Murphy was Title 24 Department Manager at Beutler Corporation. Linda has worked as a Title 24 Energy Compliance Consultant for over 20 years and she is a certified energy analyst (CEA).

Alex Vantaggiato, ConSol

Alex Vantaggiato is ConSol’s Title-24 Energy Code subject matter expert, and has been the Building Energy Code Training (BECT) Program’s trainer for the past 3 years. He is also a Regional Field Operations Supervisor for ConSol’s HERS rater team, and is responsible for the project management and development of over 80 building subdivisions. He manages the training, safety, scheduling and accountability of field personnel for ConSol’s northern division and has been with the company for four years.

Before joining ConSol, he served in the U.S. Army as an infantry team leader until his honorable discharge in 2004. He currently serves as an instructor in the Army reserves.
