This tour is the perfect complement to the Bay-Friendly Conference the following day, and a relaxed opportunity to network with other landscape professionals.
Tour Highlights: We’ll travel a variety of sites including a housing development, a library, and a public park. Each landscape features sustainable practices that:
- Are suited to the local climate, soils and topography
- Reduce waste & help meet recycling goals
- Reduce water use on landscapes by 50% or more
- Prevent or reduce storm water pollution to our local creeks and bay
- Lower maintenance associated with mowing and shearing
- Reduce greenhouse-gas emissions
- Protect water quality by reducing pesticide use
Tour Guide: Cynthia Greenberg is a Landscape Architect at Design, Community and Environment. For the last three years she has been working with the Bay-Friendly Landscape program at StopWaste.Org providing technical assistance and rating landscapes throughout Alameda County. At DC&E she provides design and construction administration to a wide range of landscape architectural projects including streetscapes, plazas, parks, open space, and restoration throughout the Bay Area.
