Topic: Zero Net Water: Integrated Water Resource Planning Case Study

Description:

With the focus on the challenges faced by limitations and restrictions in the availability of water for project needs, the solution is to develop integrated water resources, including analyzing watershed placement, low impact development (LID) responses to watershed placement and runoff, retention that encourages the infiltration of water to reduce irrigation requirements, retention and cistern responses to provide additional sources of water capture, use of graywater and subsurface irrigation systems.

In addition, we can begin to design for the inevitable future availability of recycled water, use of other non-potable water sources, development of decentralized recycled water to meet immediate needs, and design and installation of hierarchies of water sources to minimize use of potable sources. Full applications can even approach Zero Net Water on some sites. On the practical side, also covered will be specific technical equipment and meeting filtration, pressure and flow requirements with integrated design techniques.
