Topic: Foundation Moisture
Join Build It Green for a special workshop addressing foundation moisture control as it applies to new residential construction. In this session, we will discuss the CALGreen foundation moisture control codes and strategies to design, specify, and install vapor retarders and capillary breaks for slab on grade and basement conditions.

Basic Principles will include:
  • The science behind foundation moisture
  • Causes for discomfort in basements and how to combat them
  • French drains
  • Vapor retarders
  • Capillary breaks
  • Soil gas drainage via air-gap technology with dimple sheets
  • Effect site conditions to reduce soil moisture
  • Sustainability benefits and committments
