Training participants will attend a 3.5-day course based on the GreenPoint Rated system, including exams and half-day field test. Participants will learn about green building, the intent behind each green measure, detailed verification protocols, and the policies and processes for participating in the GreenPoint Rated program. Typical course content is outlined below:
Day One - Three: Wednesday - Friday, 8AM-5PM
- Program Overview
- Verification protocols for Site Development, Water, Foundation, Structural Frame, Exterior Finishes, Plumbing
- Verification protocols for Electrical, Insulation, Building Performance, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Renewable Energy, Indoor Air Quality and Finishes, Flooring
- Program participation requirements, policies, and best practices
- Final Exam
Day Four: Saturday, 8:30 AM- Noon
- Field test. Site to be announced.
Certifying Agency
Build It Green is the certification body for the GreenPoint Rater Training and is responsible for class logistics, development of training content, management of instructors, marketing, examinations, issuing certificates, maintenance of the list of graduates, quality control of Certified Raters, and communication to Certified Raters regarding recertification requirements.
Instructor
Marc Richmond, President of Practica Consulting, is a nationally recognized green building educator with more than 15 years experience in the construction industry green building field. He spent seven years as part of the Austin Energy Green Building Program, where he helped design and manage one of the first rating programs in the country. Marc has worked extensively in Texas, California, Colorado and Pennsylvania as green building consultant, construction supervisor, and energy services company project manager. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Moravian College in Pennsylvania, and his Master of Business Administration and his Master of Energy & Environmental Policy from Claremont Graduate School in Los Angeles.
