Building Performance Institute (BPI) Training Courses

Get Certified as a Home Performance Specialist

Build It Green’s new Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification training courses are designed to provide building professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to pass the BPI certification exams. BPI certifications are nationally recognized as a sign of quality and integrity in home performance.

Once certified, individuals can also participate in Energy Upgrade California, California’s one-stop-shop for home improvement projects that helps homeowners find rebates, incentives, and contractors to do the work.

Today, more and more homeowners want more than a comfortable, healthy home. They also want a home that is energy efficient with low utility and maintenance costs. Without home performance training, many contractors try to solve their client’s home performance but inadvertently create new ones.

These problems include poor indoor air quality, lack of proper ventilation, and combustion safety issues. BPI training builds upon your skills and experiences and assists you in avoiding these mistakes by teaching building science and the house-as-a-system approach.

What Course Should I Take?

BPI: Building Analyst is the first step in becoming a certified Home Performance Professional. Building Analyst training is required for all future BPI designations because it introduces the building science behind most of the issues a home may have. By understanding these core principals and learning how to conduct a few crucial diagnostic tests on a home, you will be able to prescribe an effective, cost-effective remedy for that home. This course includes both classroom instruction and field training.

BPI: Building Analyst Field Test is the final step in becoming a BPI certified Building Analyst. Each test is administered in the field, one-on-one with a BPI Proctor. You will have two hours to conduct a battery of inspections and verifications and complete all the mandatory diagnostic tests required for the Building Analyst certification. You can bring your own equipment, or Build It Green will provide you with the necessary equipment for the exam.
