Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) endorses GreenPoint Rated!

On Thursday, July 17, 2008, the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) Executive Board endorsed GreenPoint Rated as a verification system for residential projects that encourages the rapid adoption of Green Building Programs by Bay Area cities and counties.

The resolution directed ABAG staff to cooperate with Build It Green, StopWaste.Org and other partners in providing information about and publicizing the advantages of comprehensive green building programs and GreenPoint Rated to ABAG member jurisdictions.

The endorsement followed presentations by Brian Gitt, Build It Green’s Executive Director, Joseph Perkins, ABAG Regional Planning Committee member and President/CEO of the Home Builders' Association of Northern California (HBANC), and Cheryl O’Connor, Chair of the HBANC Executive Committee.

In June 2008, the ABAG Regional Planning Committee endorsed the implementation of comprehensive green building programs including GreenPoint Rated for residential projects.
